Life Insurance Life insurance offers you and your family important financial protection. Spelman provides a basic life insurance plan for eligible employees. Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provides protection in cases of serious injury or death resulting from an accident. AD&D insurance coverage is provided as part of the basic life insurance plan. Employees in the following employment classifications are eligible to participate in the life insurance plan: Regular full-time employees Eligible employees may participate in the life insurance plan subject to all terms and conditions of the agreement between Spelman and the insurance carrier. Life insurance benefits are reduced for active employees to the levels shown below. Age              Benefit Amount 65 < 70 65% 70 < 75 45% 75 and over 30% Our current plan provides 1 1/2 times base salary to beneficiaries upon death of a covered employee.
