Pay Advances

In the event of a personal emergency, full-time employees (faculty and staff) may submit a written request for a pay advance to their director or department chair. The director or department chair is only responsible for certifying the eligibility requirements listed below. The Division of Business and Financial Affairs is responsible for the authorization, and reserves the right to disapprove an advance based on circumstances including liens, court orders, etc.

Advances will be limited to four (4) per fiscal year (July 1- June 30). All previous advances must be paid before requesting another advance. Advance amounts must be limited to a maximum of 1/2 of the net take home pay computed based on the cycle in which an employee is paid.

Eligibility

Employees must be full-time.

Staff employees are eligible to receive pay advances after successful completion of their first 90 day introductory period and/or extended introductory period.

Faculty employees are eligible to receive pay advances after they have completed 90 days of employment.

Employee is not separating or terminating from the College at time of request.

Special Onboarding Advance

Employees receiving paychecks more than 30 days following start date may be eligible to receive one (1) onboarding salary advance after completing fourteen (14) days of employment. The maximum amount of the advance may be up to the equivalent to 25% of 1 month gross salary.

Salary advances will be withdrawn from the 1st paycheck received by the employee. An employee is only eligible for the onboarding advance once during employment with the institution.

This does not count as one of the four salary advances referenced above.
