Summer Classroom Upgrades

The MIT Department was steadily busy Summer 2015 updating classrooms with aesthetic refreshes, new audio visual equipment, and other technology enhancements. Title III funds support the College’s requirement to refresh computer labs on a 4 year life cycle.

In the midst of final examinations and graduation preparations, Tapley 205 began undergoing a full renovation: fresh coat of paint with one wall accented with the classic Spelman blue, new carpet, desks, chairs and eight iMac desktop computers equipped with 21-inch monitors, 3.9 GHz processor, 8GB memory and 1TB storage. The lab space is a data management and networking research and learning environment for computing students to engage in their capstone-styled projects, departmental extracurricular activities and student organization meetings. This year, students will work on effective approaches in using twitter feeds for the aviation industry, a Boeing-sponsored challenge and they will be preparing for regional computer programming contests.
